PATIO - 2004
"BEFORE" shot (below) shows original patio which was in poor condition in a poor location. Leading to the patio was a large expanse of concrete which only emphasized just how tiny the backyard is.
Plan A was to demolish the old patio and haul the debris to Weldon's recycling plant, but..... after realizing that the original patio was actually built upon an even earlier patio (this old house!), both the degree of difficulty (they don't make concrete like they used to!) and the quantity (we're talking MOUNTAINS of rubble!) we quickly deferred to Plan B: bury it using soil and sod from the excavation of new patio.
(below) See those three craters? This is apparently what happens when a bird relieves itself on fresh concrete. BE WARNED!! It must have something to do with chemistry. Maybe the ammonia in bird pee cancels the set-up process of the Portland cement. I'd be disappointed if not for the fact that I am building over this entire area with brick.
